Invisalign® Pricing and Payment Options By Bruce Wilderman on August 02, 2013

Philadelphia Invisalign® CostsIn the past when patients required orthodontic treatment, there were few options to consider. While metal braces could be bulky and uncomfortable, it was a patient’s only choice if they wanted to straighten the teeth and improve the smile. Fortunately, patients today have another option. Cosmetic dentist Bruce Wilderman offers his patients in Philadelphia Invisalign® treatment to properly align the teeth and enhance the aesthetics of the smile. While the benefits of these “invisible” braces appeal to just about all of our patients, many fail to explore this treatment option because they fear that the cost is too expensive. While Invisalign® treatment is not cheap, most patients are pleasantly surprised to learn the actual cost of treatment.

Invisalign® is a lengthy treatment procedure in which the teeth slowly shift into place through the use of a series of invisible plastic aligner trays. A number of aligners are required throughout treatment, as are a number of dental appointments to monitor the progress of treatment. These are some of the factors that add to the cost of Invisalign® treatment. However, when comparing the cost of Invisalign® treatment to the cost of braces, most patients are surprised to learn that the cost is comparable. The cost of Invisalign® treatment can cost anywhere from $3,500 to $8,000 depending on the extent of treatment required. However, the average cost of Invisalign® treatment is $5,000, which happens to be the average cost of treatment with traditional metal braces as well. For roughly the same cost, patients can straighten the teeth with Invisalign® and experience the added benefit of comfortable, convenient, and undetectable clear aligners.

Payment Options

Although the cost of Invisalign® treatment is comparable to traditional braces, it is a considerable expense; as such, many patients wish to break up the total cost into monthly payments. However, before any other financial options are considered, our staff will help patients determine the actual out-of-pocket expense for treatment. As far as most insurers are concerned, Invisalign® is just like any other orthodontic treatment, so whatever coverage is available for orthodontic treatment should apply to Invisalign® treatment. The remaining expense of Invisalign® treatment can be covered by any of the following:

  • Flex spending account: Many employers now offer employees the option of setting aside a specific amount of each pay check (before taxes) in order to be used for medical and dental expenses. As an orthodontic treatment, Invisalign® should qualify for payment with the money from a flex spending account. This is an excellent payment option for those to whom it is available because it is tax-free and free of interest rates as well.
  • Credit cards: Both personal credit cards or medical credit cards can be used as payment for Invisalign® treatment. Patients should keep in mind that interest will be added each month to any remaining balance on the credit card.
  • Loan: Personal or medical loans are another payment option to consider. Like credit cards, they carry a monthly interest rate. However loans provide patients with a set payment plan and a date at which the loan will be paid off.
