Crooked teeth can be more than just a cosmetic problem. Sure, crooked teeth don’t look great and can leave you feeling self-conscious, but there is a lot more to consider as well. For one, you may find it difficult to eat certain foods and to chew thoroughly if some of your teeth are poorly aligned. In addition, crooked teeth can contribute to teeth grinding problems, leading to potential tooth damage and problems with you jaw joint. It’s for these reasons that it is so important to get your teeth looked at by a skilled dental professional. Undergoing orthodontic care of some kind can address both the aesthetic and functional issues of your dental health.

When you visit the Doylestown and Philadelphia cosmetic dentistry practice of Dr. Bruce Wilderman, he will determine what options for dental care will best meet your needs. At Artistic Expressions Dentistry, we will take every step possible to ensure that your smile is well taken care of and your dental health is ensured for the long term.

We’d like to take a moment right now to look at some of the alternatives to traditional braces and what those treatments entail. While are effective and have proven to be so for years, these alternative treatments are also effective for some patients.

For problems that are predominantly aesthetic, one of the great alternative options to braces is Philadelphia porcelain veneers. Porcelain veneers are thin shells of a special dental cosmetic material that are affixed to the front portions of the teeth. The porcelain veneers will be able to mask imperfections with a smile, and since they are designed to look just like a natural tooth, no one will know that these are in place. It’s this ability to address minor misalignment and crookedness that have led many people to call porcelain veneers “instant orthodontics.” It should be noted that porcelain veneers are also able to address issues with chipped teeth, cracked teeth, and stained teeth, which makes them an ideal solution for many smile makeovers.

Of course, veneers aren’t going to be the answer for everyone, which is why we also offer another alternative to traditional braces called Invisalign®. The Invisalign® system consists of clear plastic aligners. This differs a lot from the brackets and wires of traditional braces. These Invisalign® aligners are durable and yet hard to spot when they are in place. This means that you can undergo orthodontic tooth straightening without most people noticing.

These Invisalign® aligners are worn by patients at all times of the day except when eating, drinking, and cleaning your teeth. Every two week, you will receive another custom Invisalign® aligner that will replace the previous one. Gradually over the months, your teeth will be shifted into a straighter and better-aligned position. Invisalign® is a great option for adults and teens and offers a lot of convenience for people who have active lifestyles or professions in which they must be in the public eye a lot.

To learn which of these treatments may be right for you and your needs, be sure to contact our Doylestown cosmetic dentistry practice today. The entire team here at Artistic Expressions Dentistry look forward to meeting you.
