Effective Cosmetic Dentistry Treatment for a Twisted Tooth

Invisalign®
In the past, traditional orthodontics with obtrusive metal brackets and wires were the only way to achieve a more balanced set of pearly whites. Nowadays, patients can discreetly correct their smiles with Invisalign®.
This orthodontic treatment uses clear, customized aligners to gently and gradually realign teeth into proper position. Each tray is fashioned from BPA-free plastic, customized to fit over your top and bottom teeth. At the beginning of treatment, you will be given a series of aligners, with instructions on how to wear them. In most cases, aligners should be worn for at least two weeks, up to 20 to 22 hours a day, before upgrading to the next tray in the series. As another added benefit, trays can be easily removed for eating and cleaning. Most patients can achieve straighter teeth in about 12 months.
Porcelain Veneers
Porcelain veneers, also referred to as “instant orthodontics,” provide faster results than Invisalign® and address a multitude of cosmetic imperfections, including twisted teeth, chipped teeth, dental staining, and gapped teeth. This treatment provides super thin porcelain shells customized to fit over the front surface of your teeth.
To ensure a seamless fit, a small amount of enamel will need to be removed from your affected teeth. Once the teeth are adequately prepared, impressions will be taken and sent to a dental lab. In about two weeks, the veneers will be permanently placed. Veneers provide realistic results and treatment can generally be completed in about two office visits.
Dental Bonding
For even faster results than both Invisalign® and porcelain veneers, Dr. Wilderman provides dental bonding. This cosmetic dentistry treatment uses composite resin to cover twisted teeth. Before the resin is placed, it will be tinted to match the natural shade of your surrounding teeth. To enhance your results even more, you can undergo teeth whitening beforehand.
During the procedure, the composite resin will be meticulously layered over your tooth and strengthened with a special curing light to ensure the resin is durably hardened. Although not as long-lasting as porcelain veneers, this affordable treatment requires no enamel removal and can be completed in just one office visit.
